Raven got his start in the heavy weapons division of San Francisco’s S.W.A.T. department. Over time the S.F.P.D. realized that they were wasting his abilities, being one of the biggest men on the team and yet being able to out sneak and outmaneuver any one of his peers. Raven soon found himself lending his time to the F.B.I. as a counter terror specialist on the west coast. Heavily trained in Jujitsu and Aikido since early childhood where he learned not only to fight and defend but also to end most conflicts before they became physical. He could talk his way in and out of any situation, however in the unlikely event that his negotiating skills might fail him, Raven always had his hand-to-hand combat and weapons skills to back him up.
In 1992 a group calling themselves “The New Founding Fathers” (A domestic radical group with ties to underground Nazi organizations) hijacked a commercial airliner and held the jet and it’s passengers ransom, asking for the release of three of their operatives from US prisons. The United State had never admitted to the illegal capture or incarceration of these men and responded with a statement of denial.
Raven’s team had been inserted during a refueling before the hijackers had received word of the US government’s official statement. The hijackers began to systematically eliminate hostages before Raven’s team could get into position to take back the aircraft. One of his men blew cover too soon in an attempt to stop the bloodshed, but instead landed the team in a full on firefight with passengers stuck between them and the hijackers. The situation became a massacre, more than two thirds of the hostages were lost as well as Raven’s entire team. Wounded and unconscious Raven was removed from the scene by C.I.A. operatives and publicly declared mortally wounded.
After recovery, operatives from Project: SHADOW approached him with his options. He could go back as the sole survivor of a failed rescue attempt that ended up killing 150 civilians and his entire team or he could give up his identity and join SHADOW Team, a Black Ops unit that worked under the radar. Although not his fault, the guilt alone from the fumbled rescue attempt helped him to make his decision to give up his name and his life in exchange for a new one. Raven was born.
SHADOW team has never officially existed nor were they ever officially connected to the United States government. The team specialized in Assassinations, Counter intelligence, wet works, and numerous black bag operations. Shadow’s contact was an agent named Chuckles. All other files pertaining to SHADOW and their operations have been sealed by the Department of Defense.
Current Status
Raven was killed on assignment in the Republic of Congo along one other member of the SHADOW team. Raven’s file has been officially closed.

Raven's Jungle uniform. The 1992 Roadblock head sculpt worked perfectly for this character. Firstly because the '92 version of Roadblock is slightly obscure and not really considered the current appearance of Roadblock, at least before the Anti-Venom set came out. Secondly it happened to be the best black male head sculpt (in my opinion) ever created by Hasbro and the short sleeves of his '92 figure worked perfectly with the Jungle uniform as well. The difference in pants between him and the rest of the group was really done just to keep the eye from getting bored when seeing them all together. They almost all ended up with the same black pants at first, but then I decided it would be redundant with the covert ops uniform.
