"Crimson Guard Down"

So if anyone thinks that Chapter 4 was a long Chapter, now try to imagine that I actually cut out a large section of the story that was supposed to be included. Originally, the Crimson Guard that was shot in the back during the Subway scene, was left by his comrades, (As opposed to the death scene that replaced it to cover for the fact that this was removed). Once left to his own devices this Guardsmen uses a secret Cobra Emergency system to alert Cobra Island that his cover was going to be compromised. (Assuming that he'd be found by authorities and that all Fred Crimson Guards would have their cover blown because of it). This emergency call triggers another 3 pages worth of Dio-story where Cobra sends in a Cleaning Unit to clear all oposition and remove any evidence that Cobra was involved.

So why was this Dio-story gold removed from Brother's Keeper? Simply because Chatper 4 was already two times larger than any Chapter I had ever written and I was afraid of losing the readers attention span. Even to this day I regret the decision but I realize that it was necessary and Chapter 4 turned out really great even without it.
